A Premium, Self-Emulsive Hydrophilic Softener for Textile Applications
08/04/2006
TEGO® Emulsion 4096 XP
Degussa’s business line Goldschmidt Industrial Specialties has launched the new TEGO® Emulsion 4096 XP for the Americas Textile Formulator Market. The self-emulsive concentrate is a highly substantive softening agent recommended for finishing of non-wovens and fabrics made of natural or synthetic fibers by padding or exhaust techniques.
TEGO® Emulsion 4069 XP is hydrophilic, non-yellowing, highly heat stable and provides the treated goods with a non-greasy, bulky softness and an outstanding slick silicone hand. The highly concentrated product dilutes at ambient temperatures to hard water tolerant microemulsions in the actives concentration range of 5 – 20%. It is cationic and can be applied over a wide pH range. For performance fine tuning and/or differentiation, as well as for cost savings, it can be formulated with a wide range of softeners including organomodified siloxanes and organic softeners.
One further value of TEGO® Emulsion 4096 XP is its cost effectiveness in performance. The product offers a better soft hand at lower dosages than common commercial aminofunctional siloxanes.
By using TEGO® Emulsion 4096 XP, formulators can benefit from additional advantages like easy handling (low viscosity of the emulsion concentrate), reduced energy costs (dilutions can be prepared at ambient temperatures) and cost savings on further raw materials (no need of additional surfactants or solvents for emulsification, versatility to use deionized water or tap water up to 420 ppm hardness to prepare microemulsions of 5 – 20% actives). With the health rating = 1, low odour and a high flash point (> 100˚C), the product complies with basic product safety features required by formulators and textile mills.
TEGO® Emulsion 4096 XP is listed on the chemical inventories of U.S.A. (TSCA), Europe (EINECS), Canada (DSL), Australia (AICS), Japan (ENCS), Philippines (PICCS) and the People’s Republic of China. Available in 200 kg plastic drums and 1000 kg plastic containers from our Hopewell, VA production plant, it can be stored in original sealed containers at room temperatures for 12 months. The product is recoverable after 3 freeze/thaw cycles. It is recommended to homogenize the product before use.
